BASELINE STATE

The hospital waste generated in Bosnia and Herzegovina is usually mixed and landfilled without further sorting or treatment. This greatly affects the state of the environment and increases the risk to human health, a highly unsustainable situation as the waste pollutes the water and air with harmful substances. In addition, the amount of waste produced by hospitals is increasing as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This project addressed the issue of hospital waste management with respect to the recovery of energy generated from incineration, environmental aspects and support of employment.

PROJECT AIM AND DEVELOPMENT ASPECTS

The project addressed the issue of health care waste management regarding to the utilization of energy, environmental aspects and sustainability of employment. This project aimed at identification and evaluation of a tailor-made solution to specific and real conditions of the partner hospital taking into account all above mentioned good practice experience, official recommendations and directives. Thus, the project supported transfer of know-how and technologies to Bosnia and Herzegovina

ROLE OF HOLISTIC SOLUTIONS S.R.O. IN THE PROJECT

The company provided technical consultancy and comprehensive services in the field of environmental protection, participated in the development of the feasibility study and participated in negotiations with project partners and the final presentation.
